o- — Messrs Abraham and Williams repork : — At the Paltnerston sale sheep and cattle were largely in excess of advertised numbers. For the former a spirited demand existed throughout and practically everything cleared. Sound lambs and forward wethers advanced in price. For empty ewes of a suitable j class an unsatisfied demand existed. The 6 tooth breeding ewes at 5s 7d were on the small side. Cow beef was dull of sale at lower values. Store steers were in better demand than last week and made better prices. Heifers, store and milch cows, and indifferent weaners remained on vendors' hands. We quote : Sheep— Store wethers, 9s 5d to 9s 8d ; others, 7s 6d to 8s lid ; empty ewes, 4s 6d to 6s ; forward empty ewes, 6s 9d to 7a 6d ; 2-tooth empty ewes, 6s lOd ; fat ewes, 8s 2d ; breeding ewes, 7s ; others, 5s 7d ; best lambs, 5s 4d ; others, 2s to SslOd; 6 -tooth breeding ewes, 5s 7d. Cattle -3 years forward bullocks, £4 10s ; 2i-years steers, £3 13s ; 2-years do., £2 15s 6d to i-3 ; well-bred mixed yearlings, 35s to 40s; forward empty heifers, i-3 10s ; fat heifers, M 16s ; fat cows, £4.

(Per Press Association.) ; Christchurch, June 3. Theve were fair entries in most departments at the Addington Market to. day. The attendance was good and business fairly brisk. Fat Cattle— Prime beef was selling at 18s to 20s per lOOlbs, inferior to secondary, IBs to 17s. Steers, £5 to £10; bcifers, £i 12s 6d to £8 5s ; cows, £3 17s 6d to £1 ss. Dairy Cattle — Best sorts realised £<o 10s to £0 sa ; others, £3 10s to £6. Storo Cattle — The yarding was small and of an indifferent quality. No business worth quoting was done. Pat Sheep— Prime heavy weight crossbred aethers, 16s to 17s 9d ; best freezng weights, .£1 4s to *£1 5s 9d ; do. maiden ewes, 13s to 16s ; mixed sexes, 12s 5d to 14s 6d ; butcher's best heavy weight ewes, 123 6d to 15s 3d ; medium to good do, 9s 6d to 12s ; lighter in inferior, 7s to 8s 6d ; merino wethers, 6s 6d to 11s 9d ; ewes, 5s to 6s 6d. Fat Lambs— Prime sorts, 9s 6d to 12s 9d; poorer were neglected, bringing from 7s to 8s 9d. ( Store Sheep— A medium entry. Turnip sheep were in great demand, and sold at a very good figure. Ewes, whether in lamb or not, were not. wanted but lambs met with a slightly better competition all round. Pigs— The quality showed improvement. Prime sort brought Sid per lb, medium kinds 3d. Stores met with a demand. ,
