- v Apropos of the project of Mr J. G. Wilson, M H.R., to establish a system of co operation among the flockowners in the Oroua, Rangitikei, and Mana watu counties, the following informa tion on.the number of freezing establishments in Australia and >ew Zealgnd should prove of general interest. In New south Wales alone there are twenty-seven works which average in freezing capacity from five hundred to two thousand seven hundred sheep per day. In Victoria there are six, in Queensland fourteen, and in South Australia one. We have twenty-five establishments in New Zealand, their capacity ranging from three hundred to four thousand sheep per day. The latter capacity is that of the Belfast works, ('.'•mte'rbury. Hawke's Bay (according to tun Telegraph) has four freezing; works. The several establishments in New Zealand are distributed as follows : Auckland Freezing Company. Plight works owned by Nelson Bros., three in Hawke's Bay ; two in Poverty Bay ; onr in Milton, Otago ; one at Ocean Beach, Southland (purchased from Hon. J. (j. Ward) ; one in Blenheim. North British and Hawke's Bay Freezing Company, 1200 sbeep per day. New Zealand Frozen Meat and Storage Company, Waitara, 500 per day. Wellington Meat Export Company, 1500 sheep per day. Gear Meat Preserving Company, Wellington, 8000 per day. Wanganui Meat Preserving Company, 400 sheep per day. Canterbury Frozen Meat and Dairy Prcduce Company, 4000 sheep per day. Christchurch Meat Company, Islington, 3000 per day ; Timaru, 2000. New Zealand Refrigerating Company (the first freezing company started in New Zealand) bas works at Burnside, near Dunedin, 400 per day; and at Oamarh, 500 per day. Longburn Slaughtering and Freezing Company, 500 per day (not working). Sonthland Meat and Export Company, Matanra, and at the Bluff. Capacity at each place abont 500 sbeep per day. t Green's Ham and Bacon Coring and Chilling Works at Christchurch has a very large output. Tbe Otago Dock Trust are building freezing works at Dunedin. New Plymouth Freezing Works, Moturoa, 400, and at Waitara 300 sheep per day.
