ANOTHER VICTORY. (Per Press Association.) London May 30. Lancashire, in their first innings, scored 168. Principal scorers— Paul 44, Briggs 24, Suge 25, Hallam (not out) 13. Jones took 4 wickets for 69, Trumble 4 for 24, Giffen 2 for 33. Australian 2nd innings : Darling 0, Donnan 8, Giffen 7, Hill 12, Trott 3, Gregory 54, Iredale 6, Trumble 30, Kelly 3, Jones 0, McKinnon (not out) 4 ; extras 12 ; total 189. Requiring 253 runs to win, the Home team began their second innings, which opened disastrously, losing three wickets for the small total of 4 rims. Hallam, Smith, and Mold were dismissed with the dreaded 0 opposite their names, while Tindall was not out for o,— the only runs scored being extras. In the first innings of Lancashire, Paul and Snugg made a useful stand, and Briggs played a vigorous innings. The second innings of the Australians opened badly, chiefly due to the marvellous work and pace Mold was getting on with the ball. They lost 4 wickets for 35, and the board showed 68 when 6 wickets had fallen ; then Gregory and Trumble became associated, and made an iuvaluable stand, carrying the total to 126 befor a separation was effected. Tho fielding of the local men was brilliant. With only a few minntes to bat, Lancashire went to the wickets, and 3 wickets fell in quick succession. Four leg- byes were scored, and then the stumps were drawn for the day. Lancashire could do nothing against the visitors' bowlins, and the innings closed for 98, the Australians winning by 154 runs. The chief scores were— Arnold 33, Ward 20; while 14 extras were registered. Jones took 2 wickets for 15, Giffen 2 for 38, Trott 2 for 16, Trumble 3 for 15. May 31. Arnold and Ward put on 46 fox the fifth wicket, but were both missed before finally disposed of. Briggs hit out for his runs, but the batting of the rest was feeble, and tbey could do nothing with the bowling.
