Twenty- three started. Won by a head after a rattling finish, half a length only between the second and third. Time, 2rnin 40sec, Melbourne, May 25. Birthdaj' Handicap — Chevalier 1, Disfigured 2, Straigbtfire 3. Nineteen started. Won by a length. Time, 2min 13£ sec. • Adelaide, May 26. Cup -Destiny 1, Lord Grenvillc 2, Lord Richmond 3. Won by a length and a half. Brisbane, May 26. Cup— Tornado and Newbold a dead heat, Young Buckthorpe 3. The owner of Newbold declined to run off and Tornado cantered over the course. (Per Press Association.) Napier, May 26. The arbitrators in the case Quinlivan v. Douglas awarded Quinlivan £432 10s, beiog three-quarters of the winnings of Brooklet since Douglas took possession. Quiulivan was awarded The Brook or her value, fixed at £250, for wrongful seizure .£25 and for wrongful detention .£'l2s. Douglas was awarded £67, the balance of accounts between the parties. The costs of arbitration were against Douglas. The total award against Douglas was 1832 10s, reduced by £67 counter claims, and by a further .£250 if he returns The Brook, leaving him to pay £515 10s and costs. Quinlivan's claim was about £4000, and Douglas put in a contra for £118.
