Birmingham Motes.
(From Our Own Correspondent). A serious gun accident happened this side of Manga we ka a couple of days ago. Captain Alexander was out sbooting in that locality, and took a test on a log. On getting up he placed his hand on the muzzle of his gun, which was loaded, but not cocked. The trigger must have caught in his leggings sufficiently to cause the gun to go off, blowing the Captain's forefinger clean off the hand. Mr Carey, of Rangiwahia, very kindly drove the sufferer quickly down to the Palmerston Hospital. We are now well supplied in the hairdressing line, Mr A. R, Alpe, from Wellington, having opened up. Mr Alpe is no make shift, but a real tradesman, so that anyone favoring him will receive every satisfaction. Football has started here. The roads are pretty free of mud and, consequently, the players use the main street for their pleasure, with the result, up to date, of two shop windows being broken. When a few horses run away and some one is injured it will be recorded in your columns. The Revd. Mr Cocker, of Feilding, lectures in the Town Hall on Friday evening next.
