Manawatu Rugby Union.

m A general meeting of delegates to the Mauawatu Rugby Union was held in the Manchester Hotel, Feilding, last evening. Present — Messrs L. Storey (Palmerston, in the chair), H. Palmer (Foxton), G. Foster (Red Stars), A. G. Carfcy and P. Giesen (Feilding), O'Reilly (Rongotea). Correspondence was receive! from the Wauganui Union suggesting that two rep. matches be played between these Unions this season, and that the first be played at Wanganui about the middle of the season. From the Awahuri Club, applying for affiliation as a junior club. From the New Zealand Rugby Union removing the disqualification from O'Dwyer, Rangiwabia. From the secretary Feilding Club asking when they would receive the medals won last season ; suggesting that R. H. Whisker and R. S. Fowler be appointed referees ; also, on various routine matters. From the Red Stars, protesting against the win secured by Rongotea in the match played on Wednesday on the grounds that a mark was obtained by one of their (Red Star) players in front of their opponents' goal and a scrum was given by the referee ; that the referee stood on the touch line when Rongotea had a free kick and gave it as a goal, whereas he was not in a position to see whether the ball went between the posts or not ; that a player from the Rangitikei Union played without a transfer ; that the referee was not competent to have charge of a football match. A deputation consisting of Messrs A. W. Harrison, F. Barlow, Riley and R. S. Fowler waited on the Union in support of the application made by the Oroua Union for affiliation as a sub-union. They pointed out that there were five clubs in their Union and they^ desired to become affiliated to some Union connected with the N.Z.R.U. to assist in the promotion oi football. After discussion a notice of motion was given by Mr Carty that the motion standing on the minute book preventing the Oroua Union joining the M.R.U. be rescinded. To enable the affiliation to be effected that evening the meeting adjourned for five minutes, and on resuming the motion was carried. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Carty, seconded by Mr Giesen, That the. application of the Oroua sub-union for affiliation be granted on the condition that the present rules of the M.R.U. govern them and that their representation on the general meetings shall consist of one delegate from each club connected with the sub-union, and that each such club be allowed to nominate one vice-presi-dent to represent them, and that a fee of half a guinea bo paid to the M.R.U. by eacn club in the Oroua Union. Resolved, That the Awahuri Club be admitted to the Union as a junior team. The meeting then adjourned.
