Mr Carr reports :— I held raj' opening stock sale in Apiti on Monday the 11th iust. on the farm of Mr G. F>. Prince who •very kindly gave his yards and paddocks for the sale, and did everything in his power to assist the settlers and myself in making a success. There was a large attendance and the result showed that Apiti is quite able to support a stock sale. It was rather late in the year to look for a big sale ; however 16 pens of sheep besides a number of cattle came forward. Bidding was spirited and I sold all the sheep under the hammer at prices considerably over the reserves. At Birmingham on" the 13 tk inst. although only a few sheep were advertised 18 pens came forward. I sold all the sheep (except one pen of ewes) at improved values, in fact bidding was very spirited for young sheep.
