«. (Per Press Association). Sydney, May 14. The miners are jnbilant at the success of the negotiations leading to the opening of New Lambton and Dudley mines. In the House Mr Haynes gave notice of motion that the House vote a sum of £30,000 for the purpose of securing to the miners proprietorial rights in one or more mines as a means of preventing disputes. Speaking to the Press Association representative a leading member of the New South Wales Rowing Association emphatically stated that that body would not allow under any circumstances fishermen to row in intercolonial contests. As a result of the conference of miners and owners in the southern coal district, the latter decided to grant the men a fourth of the extra profits accruing from the increased demand for coal consequent on the Newcastle strike. The Bank of New South Wales has re ceived the announcement of the death of Mr Donald Larnach, London chairman of directors. Sailed— Star of England, and H.M. ships Orlando, Rinßarooma, Wallaroo, and Katoomba for Auckland. Melbourne, May 14. The Government has ordered sufficient cordite to make 50,000 Maxim gun cartridges.
