(Per Press Association.) .London, May 12. j Sir John Millais, President of the : Royal Academy, is ill. j Negotiations have been concluded \ between a prominent city financier and i the promoters of a scheme to connect Sydney with North Sydaey by means of a tunnel under the harbour. The proposal is to make the tunnel large enough for an electric railway line and a roadway for vehicular traffic. The capital for the construction of the railway is to be £350,000, and for the tunnel and the roadway £250,000. A portion of the money is to be raised in the colony. The Ostend-Dover mail was robbed of £3000. Colonel Egerton commends the Indian contingent in Soudan. The Premier admits the Cuban rebellion must result in autonomy being granted. The Spanish Council will finally determine the sentences of the prisoners.
