Captain Russell at Nelson.

(Per Press Association.) Nelson, May 8. Captain Russell addressed a crowded meeting at the Theatre Royal to night, and received a most attentive hearing. His speech was mostly similar to his preceding ones in reply to the Premier. He opposed the Hon J. G. Ward's finance and. the Hon Mr Seddon's state* ments. He spoke of himself, Sir R. Stout, and other members of the Opposition, and made a very hard attack on Mr Seddon having joined the AngloGerman gold syndicate, .and officers of the Mines Department taking service, and their knowledge of the syndicate. He also questioned the Hon J. MeKenzie's figures as to settlement, and eulogised the efforts of the late Sir Harry Atkinson. A hearty vote of thanks, moved by Mr H. Cock, and seconded by Mr J. Barley, -was carried unanimously.
