I Per Press Association. 1 Wellington, May 3. Despite the mishap which the barque Coromandel met with in Westport, and her subsequent floating off, ill-fate still pursues her. The vessel arrived here last night and was taken alongside the railway wharf preparatory to her going on the slip. This afternoon she canted seawards and went over clean on her beam ends, some of her yardarins snapping as the struck the bottom. The vessel is flow lying with her port side fully exposed and her starboard submerged. Fortunately none of those on board were injured. This Day. Diving operations are going on to-day on the barque Coromandel to recover personal effects. Fortunately, the barque fell away from the wharf, or Bbc would probably have crushed the steamer Southern Cross, which was lying between her and the jetty. The Governor has accepted the office of Patron of the Wellington Industrial Exhibition, and has consented to open it if his arrangements at that time permit. The case of the Southland Frozen Meat Company v. Nelson Bros, is still proceeding at the Court of Appeal. New Plymouth, This Day. The body of Cosgrove, the second victim of the drowning accident, was recovered at Tongoporutu on Sundry. The Awakino land enquiry concluded this afternoon, when the Board passed the following resolution : — That in the opinion of this Board the evidence does not disclose any breach of the Act on part of Mrs Elliot, lessee of section 3, block 8, Awakina, sufficient to warrant the Board to forfeit her section.
