O (Per Press Association.) : Christchurch, April 30. At Lancaster Park to-day, J. O. Shorland established new records for 5, 10, and 25 miles, his times being llmin 55secs, i 23uimleec, and 1 hour 40secs respectively. : The time for 10 miles beais the previous best record by 2min 18 2 sih sees, the j time for 25 miles is 2miin 20sucs faster than Parsons', the Australian record. The weather waa perfect for record breaking. Shorland was paced by tandems. i Wellington, April 30. i Wakeman, the cyclist, arrived in town I to-day from Napier. After leaving the latter place he encountered very bad weather, and on arriving at Dauevirke abandoned the idea of attempting to break Fabian's record from Napier here. Melbourne, April 30. Prior to his departure for Albany, to join the mail steamer en route for England, Parsons was entertained at a large meeting of cyclists, and presented with a cheque for £273, being the proceeds of the late benefit meeting and £113, the first instalment of a fund started by the Australian cyclists to defray the expenses of Mb trip to Europe. He received an enthusiastic send off.
