The Matabele Rising.

ATTACKED by NAPIER'S COLUMN. HEAVY LOSS TO THE NATIVES. (Per Press Association) Capetown, April 25. The Mafeking column will reach Manjive next week. There are 263 women and 350 children in I Buluwayo. Many have left for Mafeking. Napier's column, consisting of 300, attacked the rebels. The country over which the fight took place extended for four miles along the Umguzu river. Selous' party was outflanked, and escaped by the skin of their teeth. Grey's scouts fell into an ambush, and were rescued with difficulty. Lieutenant Hook was severely wounded, and Lieutenant Crew slightly. The latter gave bis horse to the former, and in doing so was nearly assegaied. The natives lost heavily. April 26. The rebels were within half-a-rnile of Buluwayo on Saturday, but a sortie redrove them into the bush with heavy loss.
