Messrs Laery and Co. report as follows : Wellington, April 23rd : — Apples — Choice dessert are worth up to 7s, prime 4s to ss, choice cooking 8s 61 to 4s, medium to good 2s 6d per cast;. Pears — Market shows little or uo change. We quote, choice William pears (imported) 13s to 16s per case, Nelson grown (best sorts) 5s to O.s per case, 2s to 4s per £ case, Canterbury grown 7s 6d to 14s per case. Cheese— Supplies are heavy but values I show no alteration. We quote choice ! brauds (mediam size) 4Ad, loaf 4.U1 to 4^d, good factory 'dfA to id, dairy ohd to 3:] d per lb. Butter — The market if anything is a shade firmer. We quote prime separator in roll 9£d, ordinary B|d to9d, prime salt tid to 7d, ordinary to good 5d to 5.k1, prime dairy 6d to 7d, ordinary 5d to skl, pastry 4d per lb. Eggs— Supplies have latel}' been considerably reduced in volume and values have advanced. We quote fresh ls Bd, limed ls 2d per dozen. Poultry -In better demand. Fowls 2s 9d, ducks 3s to 3s 3d, geese 4s to 4s 6d, turkeys 7s per pair. Potatoes— Supplies are increasing aud values show a decline. Extra choice lives 60s to 67s 6d, medium to good 62s 6d per ton. Wheat— Without alteration. We quote prime milling 3s 3d to 3s 5d f.o.b. Southern ports 3s 3d f.o.b. Blenheim ; prime whole fowl wheat 3s lOd, medium quality 3s per bushel ex stores Wellington. Oats -We quote prime short 2s ld to 2s 2d, Duns 2s 3d, Danish 2s per bushel. Barley — Prime malting 3s 3s to 3s 6d, f.o.b. Nelson or Marlborough ; Cape 3s, best feed 2s 7d to 2s 8d per bushel ex stores Wellington. Cocksfoot. — Prime bright machine dressed nominally 4d, bright heavy undressed 3£d to 3£d, rough heavy undressed 2f d to 3d per lb. Ryegrass— Prime bright machine dressed 4s 3d to 4s 6d, medium to good 3s 6d to 4s, farmers' parcels 3s to 3s 6d per bushel. Hams and Bacon— Fair enquiry. We quote factory-cured hams 7d, bacon s|d, best farmers' cured hams 6d, bacon 4M to od per lb. Fungus -d\d per lb. Flour— Besb brands in sacks £1Q to iEIO 5s per ton, with proportionate prices for other sizes. Oatmeal— £lo to £10 Gs per ton. Onions — In good demand at up to £5 15s for choice lines, ordinary to good .£5 5s to £5 10s. • Sheep Skins-Large consignments have passed through our hands during tlie week at prices showing little alteration on those recently quoted. Country crossbreds medium to fine quality well saved pelts, s^d to s^d (extra choice lines 6d), ordinary well saved pelts 4fd to sd, medium badly saved pelts 3d to 4£d, best country merinos 5d to 6d, ordinary to good 4d 1 o 4£d per lb. Hides— JMiirkci 1 asier. Extra heavy ox hides well flayed 17s to 21s, dump heavy 13s to 15s, mediuuj 8s to 12s, cow hides heavy 7s Od to 10s, medium 6d to 7s, light 5s (o 5s 9d. For badly flayed and slippery hides proportionate rates are obtainable. Tallow— Best fat iv casks realise up to 18s 6tl per cwt; in tins 15s to 17s; rough fat lis to 13s 6d per cwt.
