Cheltenham Public Library.

i, Q A meeting of the Cheltenham Library Committee was held on Tuesday evening last, all the members being present. The Secretary reported having carried out the various duties intrusced to his care at the last meeting. He stated that a number of subscribers had already paid their subscriptions ; that he had procured the complete works of Dickens and Thackeray for the Library ; and had received donations of books from Mesdames Kirton and Spencer, and Messrs Moss, Coventry, Fowler, Smart, and Mills, and also several promises. It was resolved to open the Library on Saturday evening next with a tea and social, and that the residents be invited. It, was decided to issue family tickets at £1 Is per annum ; and that £10 10s be expended in new books at once. Messrs Fowler, Spencer, and the Librarian were appointed the purchasing committee.
