SIXPENNY TELEGRAMS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — In your issue of yesterday you stated on the authority of the Times in reference to the proposed reduction in the charge for telegrams from one shilling to sixpence, that " New Zealand will under this altered condition of affairs enjoy the unique distinction of being the only country in Australasia that has adopted the sixpenny telegram system." This, however, is a mistake. I cannot answer for the other colonies, but in Victoria I cannot remember any other charge than the following ever having been made — 6d for six words (address not charged for) and Id for every additional word. I am, &c, W. H. Jcdkins.
