(Per Press Association.) Christchukch, April 17. The Women's Convention carried resolutions in favor of modification of the treatment of prisoners on remand in respect to seeing relations ; that a larger measure of technical education was required in primary and secondary schools ; that this Convention favors that on all juries women be eligible, but in cases wbere women are tried for infanticide and men for offences against females, only married women be eligible. Mrs Tasker read a paper on " Undesirable Immigrants." She moved— •' That in the opinion of this Council Members of Parliament should be urged to support the Undesirable Immigrants Bill." A long discussion followed. Lady Stout opposed the motion, as she considered Chinese desirable immigrants on account of their honesty, sobriety, industry, thrift and kindness, and Mrs Daldy thought it would not be just to discriminate against people of other nations. The motion was lost by 5 votes to 4. Mrs Tasker moved " That in the opinion of this Council the nation of New Zealand through its Representatives should reject the Japanese treaty." Consideration of the motion was postponed. Mrs Williamson read a paper on " Uses which the State might make of women's services."
