Women's Convention.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, April 16. At the Convention to-day, the following motions were carried :-r-Tbat eveiy political question should be decided by tbe majority of voters that go to the poll, That the system of party government js not suited to the circumstances of the colony. Approving of the proposal for Elective Executive, Expressing tha strong opinion that reform is necessary in the constitution of the Legislative Council. Heartily supporting the Refe« rendum system. That the present treatment of criminals is not satisfactory, either as regards criminals or society ; that no system could be satisfactory which did not distinguish between ami classify the different kinds of criminals and aim at individual reform ; that sentences for serious offences should be decided as to duration by reform of the criminal; that capital punishment should be abolished. Every mother should know that croup can be prevented. The first symptom of true croup is hoarseness. This is followed by a peculiar rough cough. If Chambelaiu's Cough Remedy is giyen freely as soon, as th« child become^, hoarse or even after the cough has de.veloped it will prevent the attack. Fos sale by the Farmers' Co-op."
