TELEGRAMS. (Per Press Association). Uhhistckckch, April 16. The cargo by the Ruapehu, which sailed for London to day, includes 32,170 carcases and 3000 legs of mutton, 1642 cases of meat, 1656 bales of wool, 3209 cases and kegs of butter, 2459 cases of cheese, 329 cases of apples. Dunedin, April 16. The City Licensing Bench to-day granted a wholesale license to June to a firm at present holding a bottle license who have a large stock on hand in bulk. The Bench intimated it was intended to substantially reduce the already existing wholesale licenses. At a meeting of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce it was resolved to communicate with the Minister of Commerce and Industries with reference to the question of trade with Western Australia, suggesting the advisability of subsidising a monthly line of steamers to that colony. Other Chambers are to be asked to join in the representation. Nelson, April 16. The valuation for Nelson City is £52,---704, or some £'500 less than last year. Gisborne, This Day. A thief stole about £50 worth of goods from Sargood, Son and Ewan's sample rooms last night. New Plymouth, This Day. At the Supreme Court this morning Michael Dobeck, for forgery and false pretences, received three years' hard labour. This concludes the criminal business. Sir R. Stout and Mr Fraser, of Weilington, addressed a Rechabites' meeting last night.
