Brunner Relief Fund.

I Per Press Association.! Wellington, April 10. The local fund amounts to £1550, in addition to which the general Post and Telegraph branches subscribed £"450 and the Mines Department £'210, besides amounts sent direct. The Secretary of the General Post Office has informed the Post that the Post and Telegraph Department snbscriptions already exceed £'450 for the Brunnerton relief fund. It is expected the amount will reach £500. Brunnerton, April 10. The grave in which the Brunner victims were interred was 80ft long, loft wide and 6ft deep. It took forty men to dig it. Owing to the decision of Government not to place a monument over the graves of the miners killed in the recent accident, the Brunner News is appealing for shilling subscriptions in order to raise sufficient to pJaee a National monument over the large grave. The newspaper offices throughout the colony will receive subscriptions, and the donations will pass through the National Bank free of commission. Auckland, April 10. The Taupiri Extended Coal Company voted £25 and the Colonial Sugar Refining Company £50 to the Brunner fund. Amonnt of subscriptions already acknowledged : — Feilding Star list — £34 14s.
