The Recent Railway Collision.

(Per Press Association. 1 ) Dunkdin, This Day. Among the passengers were— Mr Russell, Government Auditor, who was thrown down an embankment, bruising an arm ; Wingham, driver of the goods train, got a severe shaking ; Pringle, the fireman on the excursion, was cut behind the ear aud received slight bruises ; T. Grey, farmer at Milburn. was hurt on the groin ; W. Howitson, of Lovell's Flat, was slightly cut about the head ; Nicol, fireman on the goods train, was thrown out aud bruised by coal falling on him ; Master Mackenzie, sou of Mr T. Mackenzie, M.H.B, , Clutba, had his lip cut ; aud Thomas, driver of the excursion, received a shaking. Although many other passengers were thrown off their seats, they escaped un- ! injured. The engines were- badly smashed, the cowcatchers being broken and other parts twisted. The two carriages and some trucks and waggons containing cattle attached to the goods train were uncoupled through the concussion, aud ran back fully 300 yards before the guard brought them up with the brakes. The passengers Dunediuwards were taken on by train at about 10 o'clock, whilst the passengers going South, amorcg whom were women and children, had a weary wait till close upon rnidnirflif..
