With regard to the reported loss of about £'2000 which may result from oue of the investments of the Kaitangata Relief Fund and diminish the fund accordingly the. Public Trustee states the loss is estimatedftobea result of the ultimate realisation of om^lKthe securities for investments made on mortgage years ago by the former administration. That is the administration responsible for the fund before it was transferred to the Public Trustee. Tbe advance was made on a property in Dunedin which was doubtless good security when the money was invested but of which the values fell, as other values fell, n|± only in Dunedin, until at tbe time the transfer of the fund to the Public Trlst Office. *
