The Totalisator.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 23. At a special meetiug of the Stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Clnb it was resolved to hold a two day's meeting at Tauberinikau at Easter without the total isator, giving L4OO in stakes and using same programme as previously arranged, with a reduction of stakes, on* account of the refusal to grant a totalisator permit. It was also decided to recommend that tbe Gaming and Lotteries Act be amended so that tbe totalisator permits be granted at the beginning of each racing year, and that a non-political Board be set up, appointed by the whole of the licensed racing clubs in the Colony to advise Government as to which clubs are entitled to totalisator permits for the season, and and only such clubs to be allowed permits.
