• (Per Press Association). Auckland, March 20. The Union Company's steamer Taupe arrived to-day with the German barque Comtnezienath Eidherteas in distress. She sailed from Haapai (Friendly Islands] on March 7th for Europe, loaded with copra. The Taupo picked her up off Cuvier Island. Teutaki and his son and two othex Natives were again brought up at the Police Court to-day and were further remanded till to-morrow to enable Mr Northcroft, S.M., to hear the charges as he is well acquainted with the history of the case from the beginning. Wellington, March 20. Captain Bendall, Marine Underwriter returned from his visit to the stranded schooner John Bell this morning. He states the vessel is lying almost end on to the beach in Oterangi Bay, surronnded by a lot of rocks. No damage has been done above the water line, but there are several holes in the bottom.
