The Unemployed.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day, A deputation of unemployed waited on the Hon. Mr Hall Jones, Minister of Public Works, this morning, and pointed out that 167 men were on the unemployed list in Wellington, 100 of whom must have work immediately as they

were in dire distress. The Minister made a lengthy reply, the effect of which was the Government were doing all they could at present, and coald do nothing more. He would, however, lay the representations of the deputations before the Minister of Labor as soon as he returned. A meeting of tho unemployed was held subsequently when it was decided that owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the reply given by the Minister to continue organising and to appeal to the public for assistance.
