At a meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce, it was resolved to communicate with the PostmasterGeneral urging a return to the old system of delayed telegrams. At the annual meeting of Kempthorne, Proaser & Co.'s New /jealand Drug Company the report, recommending a dividend of 7^ per cent and carrying forward .£18,884, was adopted. The Hinemoa left for the Little Barrier Island last night with a party of twenty armed men of the permanent force under Lieut. Hume ; also Mr Macalister, solicitor, who is representing the Crown. Tho order is to again evict some eight or nine natives, tbe original owners of the island, who are reported to have again taken up their residence on the island. Wellington, This Day. The Rimutaka took a shipment of gold of the valne of .£107,020, which is tbe most yaluable shipment ever taken from the Colony in one vessel.
