Trial of Dr Jameson.
(Per Press Association.) London. March 10. At the trial of Dr Jameson the evidence showed that before the expedition started the troopers suspected it was intended to fight the Boers, aB Majors Coventry and Grey hinted they were going to Johannesberg to fight for the supremacy of the British flag. The troopers complained they were kept in ignorance of the real intention of the expedition, and Grey answered it was necessary to leave these things to the officers. March 11. Dr Jameson read a letter received by a trooper from the Reform Committee. He stated his sole object was to rescue the women and children, and he had na intention of molesting the Boers. Col. White added that two thousand volunteers from the Band were expected to help, besides the Cape and Natal JRifles and the troops in Pondoland. The trial was adjourned for a week,
