The Butter Market.
The following is an extract from the latest report received from London on the butter shipments of the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union: — "We are pleased to be able to state that the market remains in a satisfactory condition, arid since we wrote on this head last week it may be concluded that prices are all round 2s to 3s better. The Danes are now asking for their finest 113s to 116s, for next class 110s to 112s; Australians are seeking for finest 108s to 110s, and for second-class 102s to 106s; best New Zealand may be quoted at 105s to 108s, second class 95s to 102s. The writer examined the butter by the Otararaa, and must confess that the Dairy Union is as near perfection as possible. It need only continue in the same way, and in a very short time it will come up nearly, if not equal, to the pet Australian brands. Of course it is -not quite up to that yet, and even were it so, it must take some time to break away thp prejudice which for a few years has existed in favor of Australian over New Zealand. As it is, we are near them by 2s to 3s per cwt."
