Fire Brigade Conference.

(Per Press Association ) Christchurch, March 9. It was resolved that no member leaving a brigade shall be allo>ved to join any other brigade unless he produces a certificate from the brigade he has left, that he complied with all the rules and regulations of such brigade, and no member shall be placed on the roll without production of such certificate. Resolved—That the Municipal Association be urged to have clause 349 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1886, amended so as to give two senior officers of all fire brigades the power now vested in fire inspectors under the Act, and that they be considered chief fire inspectors. Resolved— That in view of the refusal of the various tire insurance companies to assist in supporting the nre brigades of New Zealand, this Conference views with satisfaction the intention of Government to introduce a measure providing for State tire insurance.
