Fire Brigades Demonstration.
(Per Press Association) Cheistchcrch, March 8. The most of the Brigades which will take part in the competitions this week have now arrived. A church parade of firemen was held this morning, and the Conference of the United Fire Brigades Association will begin to-morrow. The programme for competitions provides tor money prizes to the amount of .£2OO and trophies to the value of ;€4O. This Day. The annual Conference of the United Fire Brigade Association opened this morning. The delegates were accorded a heaity wilcome by the Mayor aud others. The Executive report showed that the number of Brigades now belonging to the Association was 67. The Accident Assurance Association had had some very heavy cajls an it duriag the year, no leas than £87 having been paid. The fund nov; stood at .£303. The balance sheet showed receipts of i-817, expenditure £497, leaving a balance of i 319. The balance of assets over liabilities i'39;>. Report and balance sheet were adopted.
