, Q FURTHER ADVANCE IN PRICES. (Per Press Association.) London, March 5. At the wool sales there was animated competition iv all classes. The series close on March 15. The Continent is buy- i ing a large proportion at extreme prices. March 6. At tbp opening of the wool sales 9670 bales were catalogued, consisting of a fair selection of medium and inferior sorts. There was the keenest competition. There was a large attendance of Home '. and Continental buyers, and a few Am- : ericans. : Crossbreds were very firm at the Jan- i vary closing rates, while mermoes show- i ed an increase of 5 per cent. • The total arrivals to date number : 26,6,000 bales, of which 82,000 have been < sent forward direct to the manufactur- i ing districts, and 206,000 bales are avail- < able for the present series. ; ' f
