A championship match was played at Feildmg on Saturday last between the Carnarvon and Sandon Clubs, resulting in an easy win for the former. Neither club sent over a full team and substitutes were played from amongst the spectators. iSandon batted first and were all out for 54 runs, J. Mathews, with 18, being the only player to reach double figures. Carnarvon followed and their prospects did not appear to be very bright at first as they had four wickets down for 18, when Bowater faced the bowling and carried his bat through the remainder of the game for 38, compiled by careful and honest cricket. A. Edwards and Harper also reached double figures with 10 and 12 respectively. With 42 to make to save an innings defeat, Sandon again went to the wickets and just managed to put together the exact number required before the last wicket fell, Mathews being again the only one to make double figures. Edwards aud Penny were sent in to make the required run to win the match, which the former did in the first over. Afternoon tea was kindly provided for the players by Mrs Lethbridge.
