A Blow at Freethinkers.
(Per Presa Assocxation). Wellington, This Day. At the annual breakfast in connection with the Presbyterian Assembly this morning, Mr Duthie, M H.R., advocated state schools should be opened each day with a simple form of prayer acceptable to all denominations. He saw no objection to the introduction of a text book equally " colourless " character. He said there was no' doubt there was alack of reverence throughput the community and he had the authority of Mr Martin, §.'M., in saying therq was not the same reverence for an oath in ocyzt as was the eft \q some years ago. it was a question whether this irreverence was 1 not brought out by the present secular systeni of education.
