The meeting was resumed yesterday. Present — Messrs Carson (chairman), Sanson, Ross, Baker, Fry, Pirani, Hurley, and Beckett. Birmingham. — Maggie Stevenson, cadet at Bulls, to be appointed pupil teacher. School Readers. — Inspector to report as to reading books with a view of introducing new ones after next examination. Copy Books. — Inspector to report on suggestion of Educational Institute re new copy books. Rewa, Waituna West. — Architect instructed to invite tenders for school. Palmers. — On the motion of Mr Pirani, seconded by Mr Beckett, it was resolved, That if the settlers acquire a site of two acres and erect a building to the approval of the Board at Horseshoe Bend, a teacher will be appointed on the usual terms— viz., that if the average attendance is below 20 the settlers will make up the deficiency in the teacher's salary, and ii above that number the Board will pay the whole. — The Chairman and Mr Fry opposed the motion. Bunnythorpe. — It was decided to give £2 towards metalling the Bunnythorpe school ground, owing to special circumstances Teachers' Cheques. — On Mr Pirani's motion, it was decided to ask the executive to ascertain what arrangements could be made with the Bank by which the Board could pay exchange on teachers' cheques. The Board then adjourned. — Chronicle.
