Concet at Apiti.
The concert as given by the children attending the Apiti school on the breaking up for the Christmas holidays was repeated last night in Guy's Hall, by request. There was a large attendance, and every item was well received and much appreciated, whicb shows the careful training the children have bad for theentertainmentfrom Miss Prendergast and Mrs J. Buckman. Following is the programme : — Introductory speech, three boys ; full chorus, ' Childhood's pleasures ;' tableau, ' The three graces,' Misses Lilly Prince, Annie Meehan, and Ethel Buckman ; chorus, * Robin," six children ; recitation, ' Two magpies,' Misses Lizzie Cartwright and Ivy Buckman ; song, ' Six little pigs,' six children ; tableau, * Rock of ages,' Miss Ela Eagar ; recitation, ' I'm a professor,' Miss Maggie Meehan ; song, * Raindrops,' nine children ; dialogue, ' Pompey's dream,' Masters C. Osborne, T. Nix, and W. Marsh ; song, * Who'll buy my violets,' Misses R. Buckman, J. Rea, L. McMillan, and E. Eagar ; club drill, three boys ; tableau, ' Where are you going,' Miss Meehan and Master N. Eagar ; recitation, * The little Dutchman,' Master J. Duncan ; song, ' Christmas boxes,' six children ; dialogue, * Father can't do wrong ' — Mrs Block, Miss Sophie Osborne ; Mr Block, Master C. Osborne : Polly Block, Miss Lizzie Cartwright; squire, Master N. Eeagar; farmers, Masters T. Nix, B. Guy, C. Rankin, and W. Marsh. Song, ' Ponr merry hearts are we,' Misses R. Buckman, J. Sea, L. McMillan, and £. Eagar; dialogue, ' Mr Chugwater's story,' I Miss O. Buckman and Master N. Eagar ; tableau, * Gipsy's warning,' Misses R. Buckman and Eagar ; action song, • Nigger boys,' ten boys. Cantata— Red Riding Hood, Miss O. Buckman ; wolf, Master A. Curteis ; housewife, Miss R. Buckman ; woodman, Master N. Eagar. At the conclusion Mrs John Buckman ; was the recipient of a nice present from the children to show their appreciation. ' Master Arthur Curteis made the presentation in a few well- chosen words. Mr John Buckman suitably replied on behalf of Mrs Buckman. Votes of thanks to the teachers (Miss Pendergast and Mr J, O'Reilly), and to Mr Guy, who gave the use of his hall free, brought 1 the entertainment to a close.
