(Per Press Association). Christchurch, February 5. The following are the nominations for the Christcburch seat: — Charles Taylor Lewis, R. M. Taylor, and T. E. Taylor. The election takes place on the 13th instant. At Lancaster Park to-night J. W. Jones lowered the New Zealand fivemile bicycle record, covering the distance in 12min 57sec, beating the previous record by 38sec. He afterwards lowered the one mile record to 2min 16 2-sth sec. New Plymouth, February 5. A man named George Olgie was killed near Toko, Stratford, on Tuesday last through being thrown from his horse, which had bolted. Wellington, February 5. A carpenter named Win. Da vies, aged 31, was committed for trial on a charge of bigamy. Accused married in Auckland in 1887 and deserted his wife in Napier 18 months ago, and last October married a young woman named Noble here. The following are tho Marion passes at the Trinity College musical examinations : — Pianoforte playing — Senior division : Janet Duff Ross <73 marks), and Flora Katherine McLean (73) ; Junior division : Christina Mackay Ross, 72 ; Honors : Leila Lucy Mossman, 74. American Organ Playing — Senior division : Emma Rose Thomas, 66. Violin Playing — Junior division : Janet Duff Ross, 88. Solo Singing (honors) — Junior division : Alice Mary Gould, 69. This Day. A man named Wm. Todd died suddenly this morning in Short's auction mart. He was 55 years of age. The cause is attributed to heart disease. Dunedin, February 4. The President of the Dunedin Fanciers' Club has given his casting vote ia favour of Wellington as the head-quarters ot the New Zealand Kennel Cjnb.
