The "Woman's FranehUw League pasßed a resolution regretting the disrespectful manner in which some members of the Medical Congress bad received the memorial from the Wellington Christian Temperance Union in Victoria, referring to the CD. Act, and thanked those who protested against tho disrespect. The Executive had intended wailing on tho Congress, but had decided to trust to their own efforts at the general election, and to the promise of Government for repeal. The Presbytery also discussed the matter and the advisability of approaching the Congress was discussed, but eventually all that was done was to pass a resolution expressing sympathy wilh a circular of the Free Church on the matter and timber determine to take such action as may be necessary to remove such obnoxious law? from tho Statute Book. Auckland, Feb. 4. At the iuquest ou Farrell, oue of the victims of the Rotorua fire, the jury returned a verdict that he met his death by fire, but that there was no evidence to show how such fire originated. Mrs Bruce, wife of Jas. Bruce, the well known miller, now of Wellington, jumped from a bolting buggy and received such injury that she died at midnight. She was here on a holiday. Wellington, This Day. The body of the man Main drowned ia the boat accident on Wedoesday was recovered in the harbor to-day.
