Pohangina Notes.
(From our own correspondent.) The stormy weather we have had recently has not only played havoc with the fruit but also with the trees which have been smashed about dreadfully. Our crop of fruit will be small this season I very much fear. Some of the corn crops have been levelled with the ground which has made it rather a difficult matter to cut them. As a compensation the potato crop will be very good. Judging from appearances cocksfoot grass seed will not be very plentiful for the wind has not spared it any more than the corn. The roads have been cut up a good deal with the wash of water. Owing to the blocking of the culverts some parts of the Pohangiua Valley road were much cut about. I notice the Pobangina County Council is a loug time about mending the sharp elbow on the road referred to. Some unfortunate individual will surely meet with an accident on that spot before long as there is just room, so to speak—to crawl past. I suppose the Engineer has not had time to notice it yet, but I know that some of the members of the Council have had their attention directed to it.
