In discussing this motion the committee were strongly of opinion that, in the interests of all country schools, some change was necessary as the majority of present members had been so long on the Board that they had become fossilised. Mr Bray said the proceedings were a disgrace to that body, who could not find sufficient funds to give tbe necessary accommodation in the country districts, but could find £600 for a building in Wanganui. The travelling expenses of members was £500 per annum, £320 was spent on a drill instructor, and tbey had a chief clerk and a boy in the office. It was high time they had something spent in the country : districts. The Committee then adjourned.
