(Per Press Association.) Wanganui, January 9. At the meeting of the N.Z. Educa tional Institute the following resolutiox •was carried :—•" That the Council hay ing considered the circular issued by th< Wanganui Board re teaching of writing expresses its opinion that its tendency is repress individuality of teacher anc to interfere with true education. II respectfully calls the attention of th< Wanganui Board to the fact that the spirit of such circular is at variance with that standard of education, and further it would urge on the Board the necessity of giving teachers as mucli freedom as possible in the employment of their own methods." It was agreed fcfaat the next meeting of the Council toill take place in Auckland on January 4th 1897.
