The second wool sales were held today and to-night, when 10,200 bales were offered. There was, perhaps, a little improvement in quality, but the effect of the recent severe winter was' plainly, visible in most of the clips, which were decidedly off colour and weak in^staple. The demand was been for bright lustrous long wools, and prices for same were Id to l£d better than last year, Other qualities in good colour sold at |d to Id higher than at the corresponding Bale of last season. Off-colour parcels were in very moderate request by scourers, and prices were without improvement. Pieces, bellies and locks, met a specially good sale, and realised satisfactory values. Quotations—Best long wools, bright lustre, 8d to 9d ; an extra lot at 9|d ; bright half crossbreds and half breds, 6d to 7|d ; ordinary merino, s£d to 7d ; extra merino (shed flocks) to 8f d ; pieces, 4d to 7£d ; bellies, B£d to 6d; locks, l£d to B|dj scoured merino fleeces, ll£d to 18d; scoured locksjSdtoTJd^^^
