General Booth's Scheme

At the outcome of General Booth's visit to the colony and part of the social regeneration scheme, he so eloquently urged, an estate of twelve hundred acres has been secured by the Salvation Army at Narabeen, a few miles from Sydney, which it is intended to work on similar lines to farms established by General Booth in England Victoria and elsewhere. The idea is to provide temporary work for and bring healthy influences to bear upon the submerged unemployed, and ; help those who have made a social fail- ; ure of life and find it impossible to help : themselves. So far only preparatory • work is going on, but the officials hope , soon to be in a position to d,eal with a large number of men up to 70. It is intended tq make the farm self supporting A large portion of the land is vergin s.pil, and wilj be divided into cultivation and grassing areas, Already a considerable number of cattle has been procured. General Booth visited and ' approved of the site.
