N.S.W. V. NEW ZEALAND. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Dec. 30. The International cricket match commenced to-day at Lancaster Park upon a good fast wicket and in glorious summer weather. 1500 spectators were present. Play during the time the New Zealand team were batting was slow and tedious, the visitors bowling and fielding well, and three hours and three-quarters batting only produced 187 runs. Rains 55, Pearce 47, Blacklock 23, and Labatt 19, were the chief scorers. Callaway bowled very well and took 7 wickets for 77 runs. At 6.30 p.m, when the stumps were drawn, N.S. Wales had lost Cobcroft, Walford, and Wade for 79 runs. Wade made 31, and Poidovin 26 (not out). The adherence to the off theory again kept New Zealanders from scoring with rapidity, excepting when Pearce was at the wickets. This Day. The match was resumed this morning in magnificent weather. Poidevin and Pryor, the two not-out men on N.S.W. side took the score to 125, when Poidevin was caught and bowled by Pearce for a finely played 04. Later. The lifth and sixth wickets fell for 126— Bnrton 1, Gallaway 0. Noonau joined Pryor, but the rapid change in the game caused the batsmen to play cautiously. At 12.30 the score was 141 for 6 wickets. 16f» Pryor was caught at mid-on by Holdship for 35. Furness filled the breach, and with Noonan played out to lunchcou adjournment, the latter not out, 32. Total 7 lor 178.
