Goldmining in Auckland.
This is the game that is being played on the Auckland share market, according to the Mining Standard : — The manager of one of the prominent mines in Coromandel is certainly an artist in telegraphic managerial despatches, At first his wires suggest they are striking good ground, then a rich leader has been cut, followed by a report that the stone seems fairly good gold-bearing ore, next, picked stone from the lode yields a splendid return on assay, and, finally, a large quantity of same stone is at grass waiting to be bagged and shipped for treatment. By this time tho shares have gradually arrived at a price enabling those in the know to unload at a small I>ro;i(\ thanks to the crescendo stylo of advertising iudul^ed in by the manager. After that has been done no favorable reports come for a time, and the shares drop back again iv prico and remain there uutil the time comes rouud lor another flatter.
