The Wooloomooloo Sensation.

DEATH SENTENCE CONFIRMED. A meeting of the Cabinet was held on the sth to consider the case of Thomas Meredith Sheridan, now lying under sentence of death for the murder of Jessie Amelia Nicholls on the 30th October last. The Cabinet met at 11.20 a.m., and sat till one o'clock. Mr Justice Simpson who tried the case, was present in accordance with the usual practice. Having consulted with Mr Justice Simpson, the Cabinet, after a long deliberation, decided that the death sentence should be carried out, having in view the serious character of the crime and the previous history of the prisoner in connection with similar offences. It was also decided to fix the date of the execution for the 7th January next.
