(Per Press Association). Auckland, Dec. 23. Lord Glasgow and party arrived at Opoboni, Uokianga, and were saluted by 17 guns from Mr John Webster's 8-pounders battery. A large number of natives gave a dance of welcome. His Excelleucy is the guest of Mr Webster till Christmas. Dunebin, December 23. At the inquest on Henry Hill, who died from injuries received on the railway on Saturday, the evidence of the driver and guard showed that the man walked on to the line and deliberately laid his head on the rails. A verdict of suicide while in a state of unsound mind, brought on by long suffering from asthma, was returned. The train omicials were exonerated from , all blame. The Board of Governors of the Canterbury College decided to-day on the j recommendation of the Committee of \ the School of Agriculture to purchase \ 50 acres of land adjoining the model farm and to expend £1300 in additions \ to the buildings, fences, fowlhouses, , apiary, pig paddocks, etc. , The Committee of the Bishop Harper Memorial has sent an order by cable to Williamson, sculptor, of Bloomsbury, , to execute a recumbent figure of the late Bishop in Italian marble. Mr Williamson is a man of considerable repute, and is private sculptor to the Queen.
