Money - Lending Usurers.

O (Per Press Association.) j Melbourne, December 20. The Committee appointed by the Legislative Council to enquire into | money lenders' practices, consequent on certain statements made in Parliament, reported that they found in some cases as high as 30 per cent charged, not only on amounts actually lent but on heavy bonuses in addition. In the Committee's opinion steps should be taken to prevent the continuance of the system of usury disclosed, and recommends Legislative action to make money lenders of this class register their transactions and pnt reasonable limits on charges.
