j^E are indebted to oar esteemed contemporary, the Wellington Post, for the following summary ot the new regulations as to the introduction of stock recently gazetted : — Vessels coming from Australia with cattle, en route to Great Britain, are to be allowed to call only at the port of Wellington for coal, and when here iamb remain at least half a mile from the shore., Sheep (except from Western Australia, wfoqnce the importation of sheep is prohibited) are to be allowed to come in after thutt? the Inspector to thoroughly disinfect j any vehicle in which they have been | conveyed between the ship and the manure works or tannery. The new regulations are to come in force on the Ist January. Artificial manures from any country outside Australasia are to be admitted subject to the same conditions. Under previous regulations Queensland cattle ships were not allowed to enter any New Zealand port, but the whole of Australia is now put on the same footing by confining Australian cattle to the port of Wellington, and even then for coaling purposes only, no permission being granted to come alongside the wharves. Australian sheep were formerly allowed in free, but they are now to be subjected to 30 days' quarantine. There were no prohibitions as to artificial manures formerly, though raw bones and hides were prohibited. These are now to be admitted under the conditions given above.
