In Oxide-street verandahs , wrenched off sundry buUdingSi and some stables were quite - dembKshed. Pell's Royjal Horse Bazaar lately used as a storehouse for furniture, was completely wrecked. A blacksmith's ; -^ shop in Beryl-staeet -was ruined, the oc;i?:::cvmiab: barely, escaping injury. The ?'* bnuding formerly used by the Market Cb-operaiave Society was H ifiockedrio preces, and Hendy's frnit -; r'^ shop was wrecked. - The Brewers' Arms Hotel also sustained serious damage, «% ?^h^whole of the roof being blown oft, ■; and portions of the chimney fell into the h«tf.i The mines, too, did not escape un--X scathed. A number of electric light and ;^ ''telegraph poles in various places were blown down, and some iron telegraph poles were doubled up.
