200 VILLAGES DESTKOYED. j 100,000 PEOPLE MASSACRED. I (Per Press Association.) Constantinople. Dec. 12. The Sultan, on thirteen occasions, asked Said Pasha to remain, and promised he would not be required in the palace service, and at the same time assured the embassies of security of his freedom. London, Dec. 11. The Times coiiespondent wires the Hamidian cavalry destroyed 200 villages ill the province of Van. Fifty thousand homeless refugees are flocking into the city of Van. A. telegram appears in the Armenian organ at Constantinople, stating that in all 100,000 unfortunate wretches were massacred, and 500,000 more are wandering in the forests and mountains.
